Upper Egypt Nile Cruise in a Private Dahabeyya
Including Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel
March 4 – 11 2020
This customized private trip begins with two nights at the Winter Palace in Luxor before boarding a private dahabeyya for the cruise from Luxor to Aswan. We end with a visit to Abu Simbel and lunch at the iconic Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan. Optional additional stay at the Old Cataract Hotel.
A private highly-specialized guide will accompany us through the trip, and we will also enjoy a special private evening on an island in the Nile.
Total price per person for the package is US$ 1725 and this includes the following:
- All private airport transfers in Aswan and Luxor.
- 2 nights at the Winter Palace in Luxor (Double Occupancy, Bed and Breakfast).
- Dinner in Luxor.
- Lunch at the AlMoudira Hotel.
- Dahabeyya Cruise on a full board basis (excluding drinks but including tea, coffee, and water).
- All transfers, private guided tours, and entrance fees to all sights along the cruise. (Edfu, Kom Ombo, Edfu..)
- All private guided tours in Luxor: Dandera, Luxor, and Karnak Temples, Hatshepsut Temple, and Valley of the Kings.
- All private guided tours, and entrance fees in Aswan: Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple.
- Private guided tour to the Nubian Village in Aswan by motorised boat.
- Private guided excursion to Abu Simbel.
- Lunch at the Old Cataract Hotel.
Not included:
- International and domestic flights.
- Beverages (except tea, coffee, and water).
- Tips to guide and dahabeyya staff.
- Travel insurance.
Terms:
A downpayment of USD 750 per person is requested to reserve. The balance of the payment is due on Jan 31 2020.
For cancellations before Jan 31, a penalty of 30% applies
For cancellations between Feb 1 and Feb 25: 50% penalty.
For cancellations after Feb 25, we will make every effort to retrieve as much as possible, but penalty could reach 80%.
Program Details
Day 1 (March 4): Luxor
Arrival in Luxor Airport in the afternoon (TBC). Transfer for check in at the Sofitel Winter Palace. After some rest, take a sunset visit of the Luxor temple, followed by a stroll in the souks of Luxor before dinner at Sofra Restaurant.
Day 2 (March 5): Dandera and Luxor
In the morning we will take a one hour excursion north of Luxor to visit the spectacular temple at Dandera- a temple not usually on the regular itineraries, but one that is beautifully preserved and with a special story.
After returning to Luxor, we will have lunch (optional) before proceeding to visit the sprawling temple complex of Karnak.
Free evening either along the Luxor corniche or in the city’s souk.
Day 3 (March 6): The West Bank
After an easy morning and breakfast, checkout and proceed by private bus to the West Bank. We will visit Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of the Kings, before proceeding to the AlMoudira Hotel 0r Marsam for lunch.
After the visit, we proceed to Esna where we check in on the Dahabeyya Nebyt I. Settle in, optional walk in Esna, and dinner on board.
Days 4 – 6 (March 7-8-9): Dahabeyya and Sailing
Three days of sailing on the Dahabeyya with private guided visits of several temples along the way: Temple of Horus at Edfu, Gabal el Selsila, the Temples of Kom Ombo, and others. There will also be stops for swimming in the Nile!
Our program includes also a special private evening on a small island in the Nile.
Day 7 (March 10): This is our last day and night on the dahabeyya. We will leave early at 5 AM for a private excursion to Abu Simbel. This takes approximately 3 hours of driving each way.
Once back in Aswan, we will have lunch at the Old Cataract Hotel. Following that, we will take a motorboat to visit the colourful Nubian villages and see the spectacular scenery of the Nile in Aswan, before returning to the Dahabeyya for some rest and dinner. For those who still have the energy, we will take an evening stroll in the souk of Aswan and visit a local coffee shop.
Day 8 (March 11): Checkout from the dahabeyya and visits of the Aswan sites: the Aswan High Dam and the temple of Philae. Following that, transfer to the airport for departure.
As an option, transfer to the Old Cataract Hotel for checkin.
